From Burnout to Breakthrough: Strategies for Recharging When Practice Life Gets Tough

“I’m getting tired. They should know better. We don’t even greet our patients when they walk in. We go over this all the time.”

I spoke to a doctor last week. He sounded – well, over “it”. Training and retraining.

We focus a lot on helping our practices find people. The right people. In this case, the doctor’s team was bombarded with calls, emails, and yes, sometimes their own cell phones. The patient experience suffered. We decided to triage to a part time off-site phone receptionist to give his team some relief.

But, this is only part of the issue. Culture, leadership, systems development, and accountability can’t be outsourced. Adding an extra body doesnt fix all problems.

Running a practice is hard. It is a constant grind. And it can feel like you’re on a hamster wheel. Reach out to us, a coach/advisor, or your trusted dental rep when you start to feel, well, “tired” to learn how others are finding solutions to keep going.

What are ways you refill your cup when running a practice has you feeling like you want to throw in the towel?
